Announcing The Jason Alba Job Search Program

Announcing The Jason Alba Job Search Program I dont know if well keep that name. But Project HOPE is already taken (by a really cool charity). The JibberJobber Job Search Program doesnt convey the right meaning (because the program doesnt center around JibberJobber). The Jason Alba Job Search Program sounds a little pretentious but more important than the name is what the program is. THIS PROGRAM LAUNCHED TODAY ITS ALIVE! The Job Search Program is a day-by-day system that you work on on your own. You listen to audio of me instructing you what to do every single day. It starts, I think, slow and simple. But within a couple of weeks you are doing the most important thing you can in a job search: informational interviews. You are doing these effectively and you are getting introductions and you are getting closer to hiring managers and influencers. I know, that sounds kind of scary. But let me tell you a scary short story: BEING UNEMPLOYED FOR MONTHS, OR OVER A YEAR, IS TERRIFYING! That might be the scariest short story Ive ever written. But Ive seen it, in real life. In my job search program we build up to it. We start off gently. You learn tactics and get training and practice. Eventually you are having the right meetings with the right people and getting the right introductions. And then you  find yourself focusing your time on people who are in your target companies and roles and industries, and you are having the right conversations. You are finally making progress in your job search. No more spinning wheels. No more being chicken for days which turn to weeks which turns to months we start NOW. Ready to do the work? Ready to end this horrid status of being unemployed? Lets do this, together. Go into JibberJobber, click the little funky app icon on the top-right, and then click the Job Search Program icon. Youll need to set up an account and pay $197. And then, we get to work so we can get to work! Lets do it! Announcing The Jason Alba Job Search Program I dont know if well keep that name. Making a Recruitment Video That People Actually Care About

Making a Recruitment Video That People Actually Care About Video is becoming increasingly popular, especially through platforms such an Instagram, Vine and Twitter Video. With this in mind, it is important to always be innovative  when thinking of ways to showcase recruitment. Making a recruitment video is a good way to show you are  creative and is easier than most people think. Many assume you must use a professional camera and have someone who knows exactly what they are doing recording the video. However, you can make a video yourself and it can be great if you do it the right way. Video makes content more human and personable. It gives people a chance to express how they feel and say how they feel whilst in the moment, providing a fresh outlook and making them relatable to the people watching. This video provided by LinkedIn  Talent Solutions gives some great tips on how to create a recruitment video with your own phone and shows which scenes and what type of content will be helpful to include in your video. Takeaways: In terms of equipment use what you have got. Do not record  vertical videos with bars on the side, keep your phone sideways and steady. Sound matters. Bad sound is worse than a bad video so make sure you are recording in quiet areas and people are speaking clearly. You can even use a recording device on a second phone and hold close up to original phone. For interviews, let people be human. Ask questions like why did you join this company and what do you love about your job. Use your tools to show and not to just tell. Use apps such as Timelapse and Hyperlapse to showcase people and office space. Slide your phone on smooth surfaces or anything with wheels top create a variety of  cinematic effects. RELATED:  The Benefits of Using Video Interviews for Recruitment Why not try making your own recruitment video using your mobile phone using the tips above and let us know how it goes!

That’s where I come along and ask you, “Are you passionate about your current job? Do you know what career you would be passionate about instead?” That question will help you determine why a company wants to hire you.  If you don’t know this and want some help, it’s time to figure it out. Here’s what my previous  â€œ90-Day Love Your Career Formula”  clients have to say about how the program helped them find a career they loved. “The activities in your course played a major role in making a sound career choice. I am already getting such great feedback and these ladies have only been in the group for 1 day!!  I love it! So can you tell what my passion is yet? My passion is helping women like you find careers they love.  When you find a career you love, you will be more successful at it.  And that is how we as women will get ahead.  The more women in careers they love, the better we all are in the professional world and the greater things that we all can achieve. Things Interviewers Hate the Most - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career

Things Interviewers Hate the Most - Personal Branding Blog - Stand Out In Your Career Job interviews are your chance to explain your professional background plus your skills and impress the interviewer to get the job. Therefore, it is important to go there prepared and know what you should do and should not do. Some behaviors can hurt you and may prevent you getting the offer which you are looking forward to. Pay attention to the below tips and avoid making a mistake and ruin your chance of getting the job. Talking Negatively about Your Current or Last Job: It is ok if you don’t like your current job or if you have problems with your current boss. Maybe, that is the reason why you are looking for another job. However, even if you are not happy with your former or current employers, you still should not badmouth them. No matter what problems you have with your employers, you always have to respect them. The interviewer will probably ask you why you want to change your job or why you quit from your previous job. Say that you are looking for something new or you are ready for an advancement, etc. Showing up Late: Never show up late for an interview. Always try to show up 10-15 minutes early. Showing up late, sets you back from the beginning among other candidates. Also, it indicates that you either have poor planning skills or don’t pay enough attention to this interview. Taking Everything Personal: Don’t take everything personal. This is an interview and you have to be professional. Don’t be a drama queen or king. Nobody is interested in hearing about your divorce or family problems. In fact, your interviewer may think that these problems can affect your performance and you won’t be able to fully concentrate on your job. Thus, keep your problems to yourself and be professional! Focusing Only on Salary: Ok, everybody knows that you need a paycheck to be able to sustain your life. However, don’t make this the main point of the interview. Wait until you get the offer or until the interviewer brings it up. Then, start negotiating your salary. Being Too Arrogant: You may have special skills or be an expert on a topic. Still, everybody is replaceable. Hence, don’t be arrogant. Give credit to others for the things that they have done. Don’t be too relaxed or chatty. This may be perceived as arrogance. Finally, if the interviewer makes a comment about you, don’t be defensive or take it personal.

10 Benefits that will Make Your Workplace Better CareerMetis.com

10 Benefits that will Make Your Workplace Better Source â€" DepositPhotos.comThe unemployment rate in the U.S. is at the lowest it has ever been, as more jobs are being created every day. With such a strong job market, employees can pick and choose which company they want to work for.If you are hoping to hire the top workers in your industry, then you have to step up your employee benefits; after all, it’s no secret that the best workers are looking for jobs that don’t just pay well but have some great perks as well.Read on for the top ten benefits that will keep your employees happy and make your workplace better.1) Work-life balanceevalevalAmericans today are stressed. In fact, we are more stressed todaythan we have ever been and the majority of that stresscomes from work-related issues, including heavy workloads and juggling work and personal life. With technology, it is easy to access work anywhere at any time. While there are some conveniences that come from this access, it also makes the lines between work and personal lif e blur. It becomes easy to check and reply to work emails instead of watching your kid score a goal at their soccer game or to be distracted during family vacations because you are still working on a project. This continual access has increased many Americans’ work hours because they are constantly connected and the workday never ends. With this non-stop work schedule, employees miss out on opportunities to unplug and relax. While working constantly seems like it would help productivity, it actually decreaseshow productive we are in a day. Studies show that it is essential to take breaks in order to get back to work with high energy. To prevent this and make your employees happier and less stressed, encourage your employees to think about their whole lives instead of just work. You can do this by setting an example and not sending or replying to work emails after the workday is finished. In addition, you can set company-wide “quiet times” so members of your organization don’t se nd one another email or engage with shared projects after the workday ends.2) FlexibilityevalMany companies are moving away from the rigid 9-5 schedule to provide more flexibility in how their employees put in their work each day.Flexibility can mean something different to each company, with plenty of methods providing options:Employees having the option to work remotely:This is a huge benefit for employees who have family they are caregivers for. This allows these employees to stay home when there is an emergency, such as a sick child, and still get their work done.Unlimited PTO:evalStudies have shown that the traditional 14 days of PTO out of the year are not enough for employees to maintain a healthy lifestyle. By focusing on your employees’ abilities to complete their work and then trusting them to take time off in a responsible way, your employees will be more productive and happier.Flexibility in workday hours:For some people, the typical 9-5 workday may not work with their lifestyle and family. Some workers may need to come in early and leave early or to come in later after they drop off the kids at school. By providing the flexibility for your employees to choose when they put in their hours for the day, this helps them to come in ready for the workday and to put in their best work. There are many ways you can incorporate flexibility into your company, and however you decide, this shows trust in your employees and helps them to maintain that essential work-life balance. This trust allows your employees to make their work schedule their own so they can work hard on their goals, but also take breaks and adjust schedules when needed.3) Get your employees the proper coverageEveryone wants to have the peace of mind that if something bad were to happen, they will be taken care of. When companies provide that peace of mind for their employees through health and life insurance, your employees will see you care about them and their families. No matter your busi ness size or finances, it should be a priority to provide healthcare coverage for your employees. This benefit can make or break job opportunities for employees, as the knowledge that they and their families will be cared for is a top priority.Companies can also show their investment and care for their employees by helping them to find the right plan for them. Shopping around for insurance can be tricky and intimidating, but by providing in-depth training and information sessions for your employees you can help them to understand the plans you offer and the coverage they have.If you provide smaller life insurance policies or coverage, show your employees how to compare life insurancecompanies on their own in order to find the right plan for them and their families for additional coverage.4) Prepare your employees for retirementevalIn a recent study, 94% of small business ownersfound that offering 4015) CollaborationevalOne of the best ways you can make your employees feel valued and appreciated is by listening to and acting on their feedback. Just like your employees want to feel that you are invested in them, they also want to feel invested in the company and that they are a part of what is happening.Keep employees in the loop with company plans and collaborate with them to figure out ways to improve processes within the company. When you communicate with potential employees that they will be a part of company decisions and planning, they will know that their work will not go unnoticed. This will also communicate that their role will be vital to the company.Anthony Smith, CEO, and founder of Insightly said, “The best benefit you can provide to your employees is the opportunity to make a difference through their work and help guide the course of the company. Benefits such as clear and frequent communication on company happenings, individual and department direction, and big-picture company direction make all the difference in employee happiness.” 6) Opport unities to learnWhen someone decides to leave a job, it is often because they no longer feel like they are learning and growing within their workplace. Everyone wants to feel like they are improving and learning new skills, and the opportunity to do so is important to many employees. One illustration of the importance of training and education opportunities for employees is this quote from Henry Ford: “The only thing worse than training your employees and having them leave is not training them and having them stay.”Sure, providing extra training and education opportunities can seem expensive or time-consuming, but just as this exchange indicates, don’t we want trained and educated employees?Providing further training for employees will benefit the company because as your employees get better, their work will also get better. This will also benefit employees as they will gain new skills and improve themselves through these opportunities.7) Giving backMany companies are creating volunteer programs to provide employees with opportunities to give back to their communities. There are a lot of great benefits to providing a volunteer program for your employees. Some of these benefits include:Increased unity between employeesEngaged employeesA positive company cultureImproved company brand imageThese opportunities help employees to get to know others in the company and to bond over the positive experience of volunteering. This also helps employees who are new to the community or area to become familiar with their new area.Mars, Incorporated is well known for its volunteer programs and Senior Global Community Engagement Manager Annette Aitkenhead said, “The magic happens in these programs when you bring together these folks from different backgrounds and different generations.”8) On-site activitiesThere are many options for on-site activities or services provided at a workplace that can make employees happier and more excited about coming to work. Some of these include:Yoga:Some offices offer a weekly yoga class during lunch so employees can spend time caring for their physical well-being. This time spent together can increase positivity, relieve stress, and help increase energy.Massages:Another benefit employers can offer are chair massages for employees. These 15-20 minute massageshave been shown to help reduce stress, decrease anxiety and depression, relieve muscle tension and headaches, and increase focus, energy, and mental clarity.Table tennis:Having a ping pong table in the office is a great way to bring your team together and to provide them with a good kind of distraction. Sitting at your desk all day isn’t great for your body or your mind, so taking small breaks to get up and move are great for productivity. Table tennis is a fun way to get up and moving and has been shown to sharpen strategic thinking. These are just a few ideas of on-site activities that your office can incorporate to help your team work more productively and to keep your employees happy at work.9) Funding for team activitiesCompanies that place an emphasis on team-building have increased communication and better productivitywith each team. These activities help team members to get to know each other better and to better understand each other’s strengths and weaknesses. These team-building activities don’t have to be awkward ice breakers or going to a ropes course, but can be really cool activities everyone is interested in.These activities can take place on a smaller team basis or on a larger overall company-wide basis. A good variety will help your employees to meet more people and to become closer to their coworkers.10) Providing stock and investment opportunitiesA huge incentive for employees to join your company is stock options. This provides an opportunity for your employees to buy a part of your company, which allows them to reap the benefits of the company continues to do well and succeed. One of the biggest benefits of this is that the employees are invested in what happens with your company. Building this ownership mentality can encourage employees to work harder and more effectively as they realize they benefit when the company benefits. As you create better benefits for your employees, you will have greater rates of recruitment and retention. Employees want to feel valued, appreciated, and to know that they will learn and grow in their new job. Implementing some of these ten benefits into your company will increase your employees’ happiness and bring in top talent.

The Definition of Career Success - Make it Yours

The Definition of Career Success - Make it Yours The Right Definition of Career Success How do you define career success? Here are many of the definitions my career coaching staff and I regularly encounter: What a feeling Example: I am successful in my career if I feel happy to do that work a majority of the time. Show me the money Example: I am successful in my career if I earn over $75,000 per year or I am successful in my career if I am financially stable enough to retire at age 50. Up, up and away Example: I am successful in my career if I am getting a significant promotion every 3 years. Its my life Example, I am successful in my career if I have the flexibility I seek and am able to telecommute 3 days per week. Follow your heart Example: I am successful in my career if it has independence, challenge, social interaction, creativity and flexibility. The Right Definition of Career Success There is no right answer. There is only a right answer for you. What does career success mean to you? Write it down. Once you have defined it, evaluate your success in your current career? If you are in complete alignment with your definition of career success, congratulations! Meeting Your Definition of Success If you are not meeting your definition of success, consider what you might be able to do to get closer. Perhaps you haven’t met the goal yet, but are on a good path to meet your definition of success in the future. Are there small or manageable things that can be done to make you feel like you are attaining your success goal? At times, though, there is nothing significant we can do in our current job/career to get closer to that definition and it may require a larger change like a career transition. As you continue to progress through your career, periodically review your definition and change it, if necessary, and continue to evaluate if you are in alignment with your success definition. I encourage you to create your definition for career success right away. This overarching definition can act as one guide for you through the career management journey.

5 Ways You May Be Hurting Your Chances with Your Email Communication

5 Ways You May Be Hurting Your Chances with Your Email Communication Emails are also an important part of executive resume writing. Email is an important part of professional communication, especially in this day and age where everything seems to depend upon the use of technology. However, a certain finesse comes with sending out emails in a professional contextâ€"which, for some, may be trickier to master. If you don’t know the decorum for sending out emails to potential employers, you could be missing out on a slew of amazing job opportunities. Here’s some advice from one of the  top  rated  resume  writing  services  on what to avoid  while sending out professional emails to recruiters. Don’t Assume There’s No One on the Other Side of the Screen Some companies use automated services to handle their recruitment emails, but others still prefer the human touch. Because of this, you should never assume who you’re emailing. Try to get your foot in the door by sending out your application early, since many employers only read applications sent before a certain date. Also, don’t make employers jump through hoops to read your emails by creating extra work for them to see what you’re sending. This is a surefire way to get your application passed over entirely. Don’t Forget to Think About Your Audience Just like with the  executive  resume  writing  process, figuring  out the identity of your audience will help you tailor your email in just the right way. Depending on who you’re emailing, you may or may not want to include certain tidbits of information, meaning this part of the emailing process is definitely worth some serious thought. The identity of your audience also determines the tone of your email. This makes all the difference when connecting with the person you’re contacting. Don’t Ramble You have only a small amount of time to introduce yourself. Make every word count and work in your favor. Only include relevant information that will cater to what a recruiter seeks in a new employee. Don’t Delve Too Much Into Your Own History An email is like an advertisement; it’s meant to sell you to an employer as the best available. The best way to do that is to provide brief but factual information about who you are and how you would be a fine asset for their company. Don’t Neglect Your Subject Line You won’t be the only one contacting a certain employer. Because of this, you’ll need to stand out all the more. You can do this by writing a subject line that’s different from the rest. For instance, instead of including the title of the position you’re seeking, try including a brief title highlighting your personal expertise. Professional emails and executive resume writing fall along the same lines in terms of how they’re written. If either of them are poorly composed, you risk not getting the job you want. You can avoid this by learning how to write resumes and professional emails more efficiently or turning to the help of  professional  resume  writing  services  to get some  extra know-how.
